Job Opening: Senior Mechanical Draftsman / Designer (USA - San Jose, CA)

Overview: Currently, there is an opening for a Senior Mechanical Draftsman / Designer based in our San Jose, CA headquarters. We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team and provide support to the Engineering and Production departments in terms of product design, manufacturability, process documentation, and quality improvement. You are being recruited to be part of a BEST IN CLASS team that will change the industry through innovative product design.

Job Profile: This position reports to the Design Engineering Manager and will be based in our San Jose, CA headquarters.

Job Summary:
1) Supports and transitions new products from design into production
2) Coordinates with the Design Engineering team in developing, documenting, and training on manufacturing procedures and instructions for in-house designed products
3) Prepares Engineering Change Notices, and assists Design Engineering team with engineering drawing revisions and required documentation
4) Employs engineering knowledge to a low-volume, high-mix product environment in order to shorten design to manufacturability cycle
5) Assists in the preparation and documentation of engineering quotes for custom orders or specials
6) Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
7) Creates assembly instructions, bills of materials, routings, etc. of products
8) Assists Engineering in preparing project documentation to conform to ISO regulations with regards to Mountz Design Phase Control procedures
9) Estimates and provides information to Management regarding manufacturing capabilities, manufacturing staffing, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes for Management decisions
10) Maintains and supports the manufacturing assembly lines and implements new procedures in concurrence with Management to improve current processes

Job Requirements:
1) Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years experience in a Manufacturing/Mechanical environment. Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus
2) Must be a self-starter, able to recognize work without waiting for assignments
3) Must have a passion for mechanics
4) Mechanical aptitude and exposure to machining operations
5) Must be highly proficient in Solidworks
6) Knowledge of Engineering Change Notices and documentation control a plus
7) Must be detail oriented and be able to document a manufacturing procedure and process
8) Exceptional work ethic and proven track record of success either in academia or industry
9) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
10) Strong organizational and time management skills
11) Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma background a plus
12) Inventory control experience a plus
13) Excellent verbal and written communication skills
