Global Service & Calibration Laboratory Manager (San Jose, CA)

Mountz Inc. is seeking a Service & Calibration Laboratory Manager to manage the Service Department globally, setting the strategic direction in coordination with Operations and Core Management. This position is responsible for all repair and calibration centers' competence, developing requirements, and ensuring compliance for all 3rd party, licensed service providers. The manager is also responsible for driving improvements in methods and equipment and improving and broadening the scope of services documented in our ISO 17025 accreditation and any local accreditations that may be needed for operations in a given country. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.


Job Responsibilities:

• Manages and improves all processes, methods and equipment used to deliver calibration and service to customers.

• Maintains the QMS to provide documentation and evidence of standardization across all service centers and implements best practices.

• Ensures that calibration and service performance meet customer, organizational and international standards requirements.

• Monitors reporting and metrics on the performance of the service process and defines ongoing actions to drive improvement.

• Understands and manages the department’s budget, resources, technical requirements, inventory levels and capital equipment requests.

• Coordinates communication among sales and support staff for service issues.

• Communicate with vendors and staff on Service and Warranty issues.

• Serves as the first point of escalation for major incidents related to Service.

• Ensures that planned changes to the Service Dept. are properly managed and implemented across the organization.

• Participates in New Product Review meetings with Sales, Marketing and Engineering.

• Participates in negotiating service agreements and related business with sales staff and customers.

• Conducts regular service review meetings with staff and department leads.

• Coordinates technical activities in support of the Quality Management System ISO 9001 and ISO17025 accreditation, such as measurement scope, traceability, uncertainty budgets, Proficiency Testing/Inter-laboratory Comparison testing and associated records.

• Regularly travels to visit all service and calibration centers. Travels and visits with customers as needed.

• Participates in the development and execution of the Operations strategy.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and +5 years related experience.

Applications Engineer

Mountz Inc. is seeking a self-motivated team player. Provides technical support to customers and field personnel by helping them identify and resolve problems with products and/or installation, conducting technical presentations and product demonstrations. Job Responsibilities:

• Handles incoming calls and inquiries from customers and field sales personnel-related primarily, but not exclusively to product support and applications, quotation assistance, and price and delivery;

• Provides product recommendations and helps customers select the right products for their calibration requirements or needs;

• Provides in-depth troubleshooting support by phone, e-mail correspondence or site visits, as deemed appropriate, for products such as measuring equipment, controller and arm positioning systems;

• Provides technical assistance and recommends solutions to ensure our products interface with customers’ equipment. This includes handling technical requests related to Programmable Logic Controller programming, Pneumatic Logics, Industrial Sensor programming and configuration, electronic diagrams and software communications protocols;

• Conducts or coordinates demonstrations and technical product training to customers and internal staff in regards to installation procedures, proper usage and operation, product applications, maintenance requirements and other technical aspects of the products or product lines;

• Performs diagnostic procedures to analyze operational, verification and maintenance issues of customer applications;

• Provides technical assistance for special projects by being the primary interface with the customer for technical and operational issues and responsible for defining, procurement and testing of software modifications, onsite training, product repair and maintenance, testing process development and documentation of systems operation and maintenance;

• Provides post-sales support and arrange implementation;

• Performs post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems and/or requests were adequately resolved;

• Assists with the investigation of customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of products as may be necessary. Records, analyzes and informs quality personnel and other department heads of quality issues in conjunction with the quality manager.
